This is technically a race report, but since I was pacing rather than racing I'll leave it as a workout for blog classification.

My cousin's wife Alicia started running two years ago or so. Last winter I paced her through a 5k jingle bell run, and this year we upped it to 12k and signed up for the 12 Ks of Christmas in Kirkland. There were a few A-game runners out there, but mostly a recreational crowd with Santa hats and Christmassy socks. You know the types.

I clocked kilometers rather than miles because that's how the markers were. I was very happy with our time, it was a PR by a few minutes for Alicia and she ran strong through the end. Even caught a few women in the last mile and beat a training partner of hers. Splits were 5:08 (uphill, and in a crowd), 4:10 (trying to pass, Alicia actually initiated most of that), 4:45, 5:04, 5:09, 5:12, 4:46 (back downhill), 4:41, 4:29, 5:19, 4:05, 4:36.

57:28 overall.

The week's running plans got snarled a bit with a snowstorm Wednesday and too many holiday parties Thursday and Friday. Met Mike at Annapolis today in a steady rain, 8 miles that started easy but cranked down to 7/min pace (way too fast) by the last mile or two. We were talking gun control, go figure.

Left achilles a little tight, even stopped to stretch. No watch.
