Illahee Preserve in the mid-morning, headed to work late. The weather in unbelievable these days, I could have stayed for hours if I had more time. 36:00

Hit the trails in Banner Forest with Mike and our friend Chris Lemke, who more or less lives in there. He led us around and about for an hour, it's not a hilly forest but the trails wind and turn every which way. I'd get lost on my own, so it was good to have a guide. 60:03

Evening run on the 11th-Shore Drive loop. A lot of running traffic, which is kind of interesting for Bremerton. 31:00

Skipped the Saturday run to go bike riding, so I met Mike at Evergreen Park for a rainy Sunday morning jaunt. Warren Ave bridge, two loops at Lions Park, then back over the Manette Bridge and a downtown loop. Almost no one else outside, but the bakery by the park opened just as we finished. Perfect timing. 47:17

Today was the first day of Bremerton Jaguars XC practice. And one kid showed up. And I had never met him, so his mother didn't see me at the stadium (there was a JV football game going on) and I left before we got to do a workout. I'm hoping for better turnout Wednesday, but I'm going to have to get on the phone and re-recruit all the people who said they'd show.

But, that meant a nice trail run on a beautiful autumn evening. Illahee Preserve for a few loops among the off-leash dogs (seriously folks, it's not that hard). Felt great. 37:00

A run in two parts. First I ran with the three kids who showed up for Jaguars XC practice, we did about three miles (very slowly), including 6x250 striders. Then I ran another three (normal pace) on my own. 44:20 overall.

Saturday's run in two parts. First an 8-mile run (56:40) on Beach Drive with Mike, lovely autumn morning down there with the sun out and short sleeve weather hanging on through the month. We picked Tony up at 2.5 or so and got to talking, which meant the pace crept down to 6:50s. Too fast, but oh well.

Then breakfast, then over to the track for Jaguars XC practice. Only two kids showed up, but we had a good workout. About 1.5 miles at an easy pace to Evergreen Park, then stretching/form drills/strides, then about 11 minutes looping the park on the grass with 8 35-50 second fartlek intervals thrown in. Then another six minutes back to the track. Even though it's a little disappointing, the small turnout kind of helps when it's the right kids because they stay focused rather than goofing around or complaining. Fun practice, and they were beat by the end.

Downpour last night, then another round of rain after church. But the sky opened up into a perfect autumn day and I couldn't resist a Sunday afternoon run. Really gusty, but the sun stayed out.

Warren-Manette bridge loop, with a loop around Lions Park added. The park was empty today; yesterday at the same time it was packed. Kept a good pace throughout. 50:39

Another two-part run, adding up to 6.5 or so.

One kid showed up for cross country, but he's a little older so we ran at a decent pace. 1.5 mile warmup, stretching and stride drills, then another 2ish with 8 surges/strides of between 25 and 50 seconds. 33:06

Then I hopped on the track to do a few more miles, after 12 minutes or so a young guy showed up at the track and jumped on as I was coming around and ran up alongside me. We started chatting, he was a sailor on the USS Nimitz, and we ended up running a couple laps at 6:30 pace as we got going. It was kind of fun pushing a little bit. 20 minutes or so on the track. 53:03
